Green Day's legendary punk-rock opera hits the stage in San Bernardino
The Grammy award winning musical from one of the most iconic punk-rock bands of all time visits the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in September. Born from the trio's seminal 2004 album of the same name, American Idiot follows a story of disenfranchised youth, self destruction and the search for meaning outside of the monotony of suburbia.
Conceived and directed by Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) after hearing the album for the first time, American Idiot debuted at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2009, quickly becoming the theatre's top grossing show in it's history. A successful Broadway run followed from 2010-11, leading to subsequent world tours and stints in London's West End across the past decade. Featuring hits including title track "American Idiot", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "21 Guns", the production features choreography by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch) and orchestrations by Tom Kitt (Next To Normal).
